Revell USS Washington

Original post: March 2011
This is the Revell 1:570 scale Battleship USS Washington. She was the first build I’d done in over 20 years and got me back into the hobby. She’s a little (ok a lot) sloppy on close inspection but that’s not the kits fault… The brushes I used to paint and dry brush her with, were old and brittle and their bristles disintegrated as I did so, tiny bits of them are stuck all over her. Also, some experimentation with the paint job didn’t come out as planed. Still she’s not bad looking from a distance…
I did have quite a bit of trouble getting her parts to fit together without gapping and the warp-age of her 16 inch guns is pretty bad. Not sure if that is just my kit or what, but the quality in that respect isn’t on par with what I’ve seen in my other Revell kits. And that’s too bad, because detail wise, this model is probably the best I’ve seen in Revell’s older line up.

I just visited the USS North Carolina sister ship to the USS Washington.

    1. Sorry, I’d love to – if I had the time.
I just (finally) finished a simple build for a friend of mine that was over a year in the works. Life has gotten very busy of late! Maybe in a few of years when I retire!
Thanks for asking though. Besides you wouldn’t appreciate it as much if you hadn’t built it yourself!
You’re in luck, I just looked – this kit or the Revell USS North Carolina is still available on ebay 🙂
